framing ideas – using book’s pages
Once we started talking about frames, why not to go a little further and show not only layouts but also some ideas of how to put together a really cool mix and match wall of frames? The ideas are endless, but I guess I have to start somewhere…
I saw this idea a while ago on pinterest - of course I am addicted to pinterest – and thought it would be a sweet addition to my walls, so I decided to give it a try and do something really nice with my boys’ pictures.
First, you’ve gotta take a page from an old and unwanted book (you can grab one from an opp shop for a dollar or so) – it gets even better using those yellowish pages. Then you feed your printer with it, choose an image (picture, illustration, even a single letter) that you would love to have on your wall and voila, it’s ready to frame! (i recently bought a pair of frames for $3.50 from kmart)
1. CHOOSE A PICTURE OF YOUR FAVOURITE PIRATE; 2.GRAB AN OLD AND YELLOWISH BOOK PAGE; 3. PHOTOSHOP THE PICTURE A LITTLE BIT TO GIVE IT MORE CHARACTER; 4.PRINT IT; 5. FRAME IT - AND LET YOUR ASSISTANT/MODEL/PIRATE HOLD IT SO YOU CAN TAKE A PICTURE OF THE RESULT; 6. TAKE ONE MORE PICTURE JUST BECAUSE YOUR ASSISTANT/MODEL/PIRATE IS SO HANDSOME (AND NARCISSIST)
I love so much the result that I kept trying different printings.
If for instance you wanna go simpler, but still add some flavor to your wall composition, using word you can easily type a letter (f for family, l for love, a for “amor”…), using a font of your choice and again, printing it on an old book page.
As you can see, you can do it with whatever you want. Try it out using an illustration or even better, one of your kid’s digital art!
Also, depending on your interests, it can be even easier. You can frame a book page by itself; i did that with a Le Corbusier’s sketch from 1946 – not the original, of course, I’m not that fancy :)
1.LE CORBUSIER'S SKETCH FROM AN OLD BOOK (BECAUSE THIS IS AN ARCHITECT'S HOME, FOR GOD'S SAKE! :)); 2. MY HANDSOME ASSISTANT HOLDING THE FRAME JUST BEFORE IT WAS PLACED ON THE WALL
Easy, quick, affordable and extremely original. In a couple of minutes you’ll have an original piece to hang on your wall. What are you waiting for? Hurry up and make your own (or a ton!) For your home too ;)
