When we think about framing something to hang on our walls, it’s usually pictures, right? Home Decor Ideas

As someone addicted to photography,  I find it really difficult choosing an illustration over of a photo if I have to, but the truth is: visually speaking, your wall can be much more interesting if you dare to add, among your sea of photos, a splash of something else. It can be a painting that you bought from an artist on the street, a piece of fabric that you bought while you were in China, that paper bag from Fauchon, a postcard that a dear friend sent you from Goa, an old letter (from those times when people used mail – weird huh? but lovely) a drawing that your kids made for you or a cool illustration that you downloaded for free from the internet (I’ll talk about it on the next post).

I guess what I am saying is that you don’t need to spend a fortune to get your wall filled with more than those photos from your personal archives – your imagination  is the limit! Use wherever you have saved on the bottom of that old and dusty box.

Oooookay, below you can find some examples of what I am talking about.

As you can see, it’s very hard not finding something to feed your frames with creativity. You can use museum tickets from your trip to paris, Venice’s map, or all of those fliers you grab at the tourist centre during your trips and make them worth the volume =)

For the three examples above, I would give you just one piece of advice: take the front glass out to prevent reflection and let the paper bag, fabric and canvas shine by themselves ;)

One Response to Feeding your frames- beyond the photos

Love it! I framed Laura’s paintings but I’m yet to hand them – thinking about putting some of them in the guest’s room, as the grandparents will stay there and also gives a personal “touch” to the room. ;-)
